A 39-YEAR-OLD Chitsungo man is in soup after he was allegedly found in possession of a 15 kilograms live pangolin.
He was remanded in custody to tomorrow.
Zuze Tauro of Mushangahande village,Chief Chitsungo in Mushumbi pools was not asked to plead guilty to poaching by magistrate Shingirai Mutiro last week.
Prosecutor Carson Kundiona said on February 11 police officers allegedly teamed up with Zimparks officials after receiving a tip off that Tauro was selling the mammal in Mushumbi.
The team proceeded to Mushumbi pools and purported to be buyers where they saw the suspect and agreed to buy the pangolin at US $4000.
Tauro went away and came back with the pangolin in a homemade cage.
The team confirmed that it was a pangolin and arrested Tauro after he failed to produce a licence.
The pangolin was taken as exhibit and it’s total value is US$5000.
