US Embassy in Harare closed

THE United States Embassy in Harare has announced the closure of its offices next Monday.

In a statement on Twitter, the Embassy said: “The Embassy is closed on Monday February 17, 2020 in observance of President’s Day.”
According to, Washington’s Birthday, also known as Presidents’ Day, is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of February.

The day honors presidents of the United States, including George Washington, the USA’s first president.

The Presidents’ Day is a public holiday in most US states. However, many businesses in the US remain open as usual and many stores hold sales on Washington’s Birthday.

US records, nevertheless, show that George Washington’s birthday is on February 22.
